Myst Online Uru Live was initially released in 2003 but features a shaky history. It was shut down and relaunched repeatedly and is also available these days as being a free to play title. The original developers Cyan Worlds now publish the game but are making the code open source so fans are free to tinker with it. The game is placed in New Mexico time in the 200s where players need to explore underground caverns originally constructed by a historical race known as the D ni. Myst Online was planned as the multi-player part of Uru Ages Beyond Myst though the multiplayer aspects were never fully realized. There can be a central hub where players can meet and continue adventures together but Myst Online is primarily a solo experience.
